Framed Nessus (Purple Flusher)

The Anaea Nessus(or Purple Flusher) is a South American butterfly found along the Andean slopes, prized for its extreme visual contrast. While its upper wings boast a brilliant, iridescent hot pink or violet band, the undersides perfectly mimic a dead brown leaf to evade predators. This fast-flying master of disguise skips flowers entirely, choosing instead to blend into the forest floor while feeding on fallen fruit and sap.
