The Angola white lady (Graphium angolanus) is a beautiful swallowtail butterfly found in sub-Saharan Africa. It lives in savannas and dry woodlands from countries like Gambia and Ethiopia in the north, down to Angola, Mozambique, Botswana, and other areas in the south and east.
This butterfly is easy to spot because of its bold black-and-white pattern and very short (or missing) tails, unlike many other swallowtails that have long tails. The wings are mostly black with large, bright white patches and bands that create a strong, striking look. The underside sometimes shows soft amber or reddish tones. Males and females look almost the same, and it flies fast and strongly while sipping nectar from flowers.
